This is great! Players will be paid for generating revenue. Football and men’s basketball will be paid handsomely.
But other sports will be eliminated due to lack of revenue to pay the players. Sports such as baseball, softball, women’s basketball, soccer, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s tennis must go. They do not produce revenue and cannot pay their expenses.
On the other hand the greedy football and basketball players will finally get their cut of the pie. Ticket prices, parking and concessions will be forced to go higher.
There is not a pile of money lying around college sports administrators offices, it is put into non-revenue sports.
But good for these two greedy groups of entitled athletes.

I get the impression they want to pass the buck to the schools on distribution. There will be the temptation to build the money makers (men's football and basketball) but it will depend on each schools assessment of value. I suspect they will eventually try to filter this through Title IX or what's left of it.

… among other sports you’d be eliminating Men’s Soccer which has won two National Championships in the last 3 years. No thanks, I’ll keep all the sports we currently have because they provide extra experiences for the athletes and fans alike.

That plan is akin to saying … The parents of the family earn the family’s income, so let’s just get rid of all the kids…

Who is promoting these horrible policies???

Money. Plain and simple. Collegiate sports was the last bastion of amateur athletes. Those days are gone. The number of people who earn an education with their athletic ability will drop incredibly. How many men/women from poor families earned a scholarship in rowing or some other obscure sport will fall through the cracks now? I’m sure the number is staggering. I had to go into incredible debt to earn a degree. Only my second degree was close to free because of academic awards and scholarships. This is the slippery slope many of us warned of when college players became paid players.

Exactly! As a result I can foresee and endless number of lawsuits similar to Title 9 regarding not only women's sports but many of the men's non-revenue sports.

All of this hinges on the anti-trust exemption. As the article details $20M is a small percentage of revenue when compared to professional sports leagues. If they can use revenue sharing as a good faith argument they should be granted an anti-trust exemption without full collective bargaining then they may be able to continue using a large percentage of revenue for other sports. If collective bargaining is required to agree on a “salary cap” likely a higher percentage and other sports are not included in that bargaining (Title IX). Then yes revenue will go away for other sports and those that do stay will be suck with existing facilities for the next 30 years.
