RH Mom had dry AMD, and one of the worst things in the world was having to take her to the eye doctor about once every three months and watch while they gave her a shot in her eyeball. Not much creeps me out in this world, but THAT did. She did that for about four years before she passed, and it kept her from going completely blind. It worries me because people with an affected parent have approximately twice the risk of getting the disease than someone whose parents do not have macular degeneration.

Runs in my family, too. Grandmother lost her eyesight early, and that was the beginning of her slide into dementia.

I took her to doctor and witnessed the eyeball shots many times. She was nearly blind plus diabetic though under 100#s. Gave her insulin shots every day. She continued on until 95 years. Best Mom Evar.

I have seen some stuff and have a pretty strong stomach, but watching eye ball surgery made my bumwhole squench up so tight you couldn’t pull a greased floss through it.

Gouging someone's eyeballs out with my thumbs in a street fight is no big deal, but I draw the line at sticking a hypodermic needle in one.

Go figure.
