They are pretty much in and don't have to play a
conference championship game like Clemson, Alabama,
Iowa, and Michigan State who still have to earn their
way in. They're already resting up, recruiting,
watching film, etc. Maybe a one loss team without a
conference championship game should be excluded,
especially if the loss is to a 4-7 team.

Never thought of it that way, they're getting a bye week week to rest/heal up.

Does that extra week even help? The other 3 teams in the playoff will have almost 4 weeks between conference championship games and the first playoff game. If someone can't heal in 3-4 weeks then they certainly won't be good to go a week later.

Of being bumped. Certainty hurts if you are nit in the top 4 and those guys playing the 13game have a shot to get in.
