I would have predicted a loss. We had the game fully in control midway through the 3rd quarter until Miami broke this defense and went on a near-9-minute drive and scored a touchdown. All we needed was 17 points to win this game.
But Xt being out of the game hurt us, a lot, and I am not sure if any of you remember, but Mascoll got taken out of the game the prior drive, and Capehart was injured on their scoring drive. As a result, Miami owned the TOP by a near 3-1 margin in the 4th quarter, and 2-1 overall, so it should have been no surprise that Canes were more than happy to take us into overtime.
We've known from day one that we were paper thin at the end and LB and it showed with several missed tackles behind the line of scrimmage as Miami proceeded to shove the ball down our throats and steal momentum. Punting out of bounds and setting Miami up with the go-ahead FG did not help, nor did fumbling on the goal line and getting a horsecollar when we had them stopped in OT. We can point at a lot of things, like the utter disaster at RT which had Cade on the run all night, but no one thing lost this game. It was a combined effort by our team that allowed Miami to steal this one from us, and I do nto blame he coaches outside of our Oline looking lost and running the wrong plays.
We will need to get tougher, and not let this setback define the rest of the season. I can not say I am as surprised or upset at the staff as a lot of you are. As I said, we had this game in hand until untimely injuries and self-inflicted wounds bit us in the ### yet again.

XT needs to grow up at some point. He’s been a major disappointment.

If he has the ability to play in the NFL, his choices might not matter as much due to being treated more like an adult. I wish him the best.

Yep. Inability to score got compounded by the inability to stop them scoring.
I believe this is the very scenario that birthed the term “double whammy” back in, I wanna say, 1917.

If you can score 20 points in regulation against a P5 team it might take some pressure off of the defense. Not giving up points on offense would help too!

Literally any Coach in the country that thinks of his program as elite, like Clemson is/was, would have obtained depth any way possible. There is no way that Dabo didn’t know his line would stink this bad. He knew there were depth issues on the DE and LB. He chose not to use the portal. Because, reasons..
Miami went from less than 100 yards against Clemson in 22, to dominating both lines of scrimmage and winning in one stinking calendar year.
Dabo still holds his hand out and it gets filled with 11.5 million per year. Is he doing everything humanly possible to make his program as good as he is capable of? The answer is NO. He is being humbled in real time.

It seemed like we had decent depth on the DL coming in. LB definitely seemed sketchy as far as depth. Next year will be worse it seems.

Good teams find ways to overcome obstacles and still win. We’ve lost to the only 3 good teams we’ve played so far and only been able to beat 4 bad ones. We are not a good team right now which is inexcusable given all of our talent. When teams like us are underperforming on so many levels, you can turn the spotlight right on the coaching.
